Shan People

Shan have already moved from Shan State in Myanmar to Mae Hong Son province for more than hundreds of years about the year of 1831 B.E., the third King era in the kingdom of Ratanakosin City. They are scattered in Mae Hong Son province, about 60% of all Mae Hong Son population. Living with the conservative traditions and cultures, are prominent personality of them. Generally, Shan love to stay in peace with simple life style, cultivation, and farming are their main occupations. Without any civilization, therefore, most of their accommodations are built typically in Shan’s style including arts costume, and their architecture, too. With the courteous honest, friendly, helpful and humble these are all the charms for tourists prefer to go for a visit.
