DAY 01: Take the journey to Pang Mapha district. Visit Ban Ja Bo Village, which is a Lahu hill tribe village located on a ridge surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. The Lahu have their original abode in Tibet and live in the southwest of China. They later gradually evacuated to the south of China, and some of them have moved into the northeast of Myanmar over a period of a hundred years already. After that, they moved to populate the north of Thailand hundreds of years ago. For Lahu’s lifestyle generally, they prefer to build their villages on the high land, and they are a tribe that does not like chaos, believes in spirits’ worship doctrine, and prefers a simple way of life. The main occupation is agriculture, such as rice farming and corn planting; raising animals for consumption; besides, Lahu is still the most famous hunter. The Lahu are a tribe that can adapt to people very well, even though they have different cultures or languages. They can also be good friends and are glad to greet all foreign tourists who come to visit them with a warm welcome.
Visit Tham Lod Cave to see one of the most important archaeological sites, which has a stream known as “Lang” flowing through from one end to the other end of the cave. Consequently, it creates a wonderful cave which has a lot of stalactites and stalagmites; moreover, you can see and touch a great variety of the early ages’ antique tools and utensils, which have been presumed to be over 2,000 years old already. Aside from admiring the magnificent splendor created by nature, there are still other rousing things to do, such as bamboo rafting inside the cave and short trekking around the cave. Continue to visit Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint. This viewpoint is well-known among Thai and foreign visitors who come here to see a spectacular sea of mist collecting in the valley as well as various types of colorful flowers. Enjoy your night by exploring the local lifestyle on a lively walking street. You can walk along the street and buy handmade products, clothes, jewelry, baskets, and several souvenirs. There are also many international and Thai restaurants where you can come and try the food. The walking street will be available for walkers from 5pm until midnight. Spend the night in Pai.
DAY 02: Visit Santichon village. The village belongs to Yunnan Chinese people who emigrated from China and settled down in this village a long time ago, but cultures, traditions, and ways of life are unchangeable. Therefore, the house and place, decorations and environment in the village are still unique to the Yunnan Chinese style. Not much farther from Santichon village, there is the Yun Lai viewpoint, where tourists can see the wonderful landscape of Pai city, surrounded by the paddy fields and a high, rugged mountain range. There will be a sea of mist covered all over the area of Pai and the mountain range, both in winter and in the rainy season. Moreover, you will be excited by seeing spectacular sunrise at the view point, which is beautiful and will remain in your memories forever.
Visit Baan Rak Thai village located near the border between Thailand and Myanmar, is a village of Yunnan, former military of Chinese Nationalist, 93rd division, or “Kuomintang” who evacuated from Southern China during the revolution and innovation of the communist regime, tourists would be amazed by stunning scenery mountain, impressed by beautiful lakes and colorful shrubbery in the middle of the villages, admire green tea farmland planted in rows that curves along the mountainside beautifully, having a delicious Yunnan cuisine including tasting Chinese tea which is honored as the best quality tea in Mae Hong Son province.
Admire the beautiful, calm, and peaceful atmosphere in Shan village “Baan Ruam Thai”, also known as Pang Oung. The village is located in the rugged mountain range. The reservoir, or a big lake, is such a spectacular landscape that it is called “Switzerland in Thailand.” It is surrounded by pine forests and colorful winter flowers, including the cold weather all year round. The scenery of pine forest along the spacious reservoir embraced by the mountain range; the beauty of fog floating above the lake with the cold weather in the morning; and the several colorful flowers always attract tourists to visit this place all year round.
Continue to visit the Su Tong Pae Bridge, which is the longest bamboo bridge in Thailand, which was built to connect Suan Tham Phusama Temple and Kung Mai Sak village. Its bridge crosses over paddy fields and canals, and it is convenient for monks and villagers to use this way. It will doubtlessly be the most impressive memory of visitors because of the uniquely classic beauty of the bridge across the verdant paddy fields in the rainy season and its grains, which will be glimmering golden in the winter, including the exquisite landscape surrounded by the mountains. Spend the night in Mae Hong Son.
DAY 03: Take a boat for sightseeing along the Pai River. You can catch sight of some of the most beautiful scenery and simplest lifestyles along the Pai River. Visit Long-Necked Karen village, where the women wear a single brass winding ring around their necks. Being a conservative tribal village makes them able to keep and prolong their unique culture and tradition for years. Pay respect at Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu temple. It is the most important place worthy of worship in Mae Hong Son, which is located on the top of Kong Mu Mountain. This temple consisted of 2 different sized pagodas, the bigger one being constructed by “Chong Thong Su” in 1860. and the smaller one being constructed by “Phraya Singhanatracha” in 1874. From the hilltop, you can see the beautiful nature of the town, which is surrounded by mountains and valleys. Visit Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang temples. These two temples share the same area right next to the big swamp. They are both old temples consisting of beautiful Burmese-style edifices, which put up the holy Buddha image (Luang Paw To). In Wat Chong Klang temple you will see a great number of Burmese wood carving dolls and the big glass paintings concerned with Buddhist history.
